No, it is not smart to quote Mussolini. But then again, few people know anything about Mussolini.
When the Reich assassinated Austria's dictator and annexed the country(actually, 90% of Austrians were thrilled Hitler was annexing them), Mussolini begged Britain and France to form a military alliance with him to invade Germany and take out Hitler. And how was Mussolini rewarded for this suggestion? FDR pressured the UK to terminate its ties with Italy and Japan, which they did, and which drove both countries into the arms of Hitler.
Furthermore, Mussolini openly resisted Hitler's demand to deport Italy's Jews. Many Axis nations did not hold to Hitler's racial views entirely.
But since most people assume Mussolini was exactly like Hitler, and believe the over-simplified version of that era's history that is taught in America, it is not wise for Trump to quote Mussolini.

I keep saying, this cycle isn't normal. People are interested in someone who promises, possible will, balance a budget. STOP the gridlock, and get something accomplished. Can Trump do it? I have no idea.
But I know the rest will not, They are running the same campaigns of yesteryear. Promising the same things. Smiling as Politicians have for the past umpteen years. THE CONSERVATIVE BASE is sick of campaign promises BY POLITICIANS. The BASE finally realizes politicians like business as usual.
I think there are many like me who are finally realizing the juggernaut has been launched, Trump said the right things in the beginning, and by reflex the GOP fought it, without checking the pulse of the public. To be honest I could care less WHO SAID IT, if the quote is a good one.
Is the quote a good one? It is according to your personality! Onesize does not fit all.

That's right, Jesus, not Trump or Mussolini, is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. You and I are supposed to be His sheep. There is another lion that is prowling around looking for sheep to eat. |

Others say Jesus is the lion.
So I guess the lion metaphor should be used depending on the situation - which is how Trump used it.
The hysteria of folks right now is ridiculous.
