Post Brandon Bohannon
If you want some non-traditional names for consideration of men to vote for on the Council of 18, here are some men I will be voting for or at least am considering:

New Jersey -

Steve Allen... pastor... district overseer... state council. Steve is the first pastor that I have worked for. He is one of the hardest working men that I have ever known. He could pastor anywhere but has chosen to and remained faithful in a mission state. He has been faithfully serving the Spotswood COG for at least 20 years. He is the son of Carl Allen.

Chris Fraley... pastor... district overseer... state council... evangelism director... Chris left Lee University and planted the Freehold COG in New Jersey. Again, and like Steve, he could have pastored anywhere but he has chosen and faithfully served in a NE missions state.

Rocky Mountain Region -

Tommy Powell... state/regional overseer... former pastor... former district overseer... former state council... Tommy was my second and last pastor to work for. He is a pastor's pastor. He loves pastors. He loves people. He has managed a decent sized staff and budget well. He is serving in a mission region. Before that, he pastored several successful congregations including the one I worked with him at for over 15 years.

South Carolina -

Mark Leonhardt... pastor... former state youth director... Mark was our state yce director in a mission state. He is a very hard worker and has a heart for resourcing and equipping others. He also has a heart for short-term missions projects and teams. He is now pastoring one of the strongest and great-history churches of the COG in South Carolina. His experience is vast and varied and he would make a good leader in our movement.

Texas -

Doug Anderson... pastor... state council... former children's pastor... Doug pastors the largest and one of the great-history church in the state of Texas and west of the Mississippi River. He is one of the most creative thinkers I know. He manages a very large staff and budget. He is brother to Ken Anderson mentioned in the video by Bishop Williams and Bishop Hill.

Patrick Wooten... pastor... state council... former youth pastor... Patrick is one of the innovative thinkers of Texas. His congregation has more than tripled in size in four years. He likes to mentor other pastors. I have benefited from the mentoring relationship.

Texas being home, there are a lot of other guys that I will consider from here but feel like the ones that I mentioned above truly deserve consideration from people that may or may not know about them.

Someone asked what has Tim Hill done to deserve the honor of being GO. In addition to have 8 years experience on the Executive Committee with 4 as 1st Assistant, let me give another reason:

When Dr. Hill was elected as director of World Missions, there was a $250,000 deficit in missionary funding as well as a loan portfolio that was $500,000 in deficit per year (this is not a slight on the previous administrations, but the result of a troubled economy.) The cut of the TOT also cut 1 million per year from the missions budget. I know for a fact that Dr. Hill did not take a salary for his fist year in office.

Since the 2012 Assembly, Tim Hill and John Childers have seen World Missions go from red to black. This is not a small task. While both these men would be missed from World Missions, the Church of God will benefit greatly having them on the Executive Committee.

Sounds like they are doing a terrific job in world missions!

Why then, should we change!?

Is world missions less important than the executive council?

With all the high praises regarding Tim Hill, I am understanding more why he is the top pick.

Mr. Bohannon,
Thank you for giving this information on these great men. I would not have ever heard of them had you not shared this information. I will be doing my research on them as well.

What is known about Charles Fischer, state Administrative Bishop for California and Nevada?

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Please keep this dialogue going. Do you recommend any other leaders for these executive positions?

Post my thoughts wayne
I of course recommend:
Bruce Rabon as long as we get to keep him in KY. Laughing

Other likes:
J.D. Stephens, Keith Ivester,
Kevin Wallace - my kids like his preaching and obviously he is successful. I can't believe they like someone who wears a bow tie and has an organ played during their preaching. Shocked

Fresh ideas:
Brian Yaun, youth director in TN could bring a new perspective to our 18.
Michael Knight, Covenant Community Madisonville, KY

I hope he teaches ministers that "alot" is not a word. Now, that would be helpful! Acts-pert Poster

Mr. Restorationman,
Do you mind giving us some information on your recommendations? I'm not sure how often these men get to the west coast.

I listed several pastors and there are also several administrators who I really like. Regarding the particular three that you asked about:

Dr. Michael Knight is the pastor of the Covenant Community Church in Madisonville, KY. He has served as the National Director of Youth Ministry for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, and presently serves as the National Church Planting Coordinator for the Church of God. He currently resides in Madisonville, Kentucky, with his wife Jennie and three children, Lillie, Ella, and Aidan, where together they pastor the twelve-hundred member Covenant Community Church. He is a very gifted communicator and a beloved pastor.

Barry Clardy is the pastor of the historic Princeton Pike Church of God in Hamilton, OH. He serves on the Ohio State Council, is a district overseer, and is a dynamic preacher and gifted administrator. He has been the pastor of "The Pike" for over 11 years and has a great relationship with other pastors in his state and around the country. He has even preached at the General Assembly. He loves the Church of God and is also very kingdom minded.

David Smith pastors the Monroe Church of God in North Georgia. He serves on the North Georgia State Council, has served as a district overseer for 20 years, has served on the world missions board, and is also a great communicator. He pastored in Trenton, GA for almost twenty years as that church experienced significant growth in a very small community. He has experience as a church builder, missionary, evangelist, and administrator and has a proven record of revitalizing tough situations, specifically in the area of finances. He also loves the Church of God deeply and is a friend to pastors.

All three of these guys, in particular, are under 50 (I think). I think that is a positive. They are young enough to relate to the needs of the next generation, while also having enough roots to honor our heritage. I believe that is an important factor in this next season of our movement. It just so happens that each these three guys have television programs, so I guess they could be the televangelist element that we need. Smile
