"Pastor Jentezen Franklin’s visit to White House had no correlation with his diagnosis," a church spokesperson told 11Alive in a statement. "He was exposed to an associate of the congregation in the metro on Thursday who turned out to be infected."

Seems like he was the benefactor of good contact tracing. Glad to see he was likely negative at and after the party, and glad to see he seems to have a mild case.

That's a Congregational Holiness Church isn't it? I had a conversation with one of their denominational officials in 2016, and he said they still were CH. I said large churches like that did not put the denominational name on the sign. I suspect most people who go there did not know it was CH. The same seemed to be true of members and participants at the Foursquare megachurch New Hope in Hawaii. Anyway, the denominational official said that Jentzen Franklin was good about making sure pastors at the church got denominational ordination.

I've seen COG's claim the church. Is that just the one in California? Is that in the COG, the CH, both or neither?

It is my understanding Georgia is CH and Calif is COG. Just what I have heard.

And yes we make exceptions, not every COG preacher can hold license in two separate denominations.

Jentezen seems like a very dedicated man. He had a wonderful Dad and mom who pastored in NC. I knew a lot of pk's but I was before Jentezen's time. Smile

This is one of the things that drives me crazy about the COG. Leadership makes exceptions for some things but not others. How can leadership be so inconsistent?

I am friends with a former associate pastor of Jentezens, a man who held Ordained credentials in the COG. When he went to Free Chapel his credentials were revoked, but yet the Man himself can operate at will across two denominations, assuming that is still the case. By any stretch of the imagination, why is this ok? Are we to close our eyes to certain things because of the person involved?

It's my understanding that when Jentezen was approached about the church in CA, he was told they never revoked his license when he took the CH church in GA. This is not something he did...it's something the officials did. He didn't ask for special treatment or expect it. He did what he was supposed to do - he surrendered his license. Supposedly, they pulled the license out of a drawer and gave them back to him.

I also heard that when Floyd Lahon retired from the church in Orange County, they knew they would need a "big name" pastor to keep the church going, especially on the financial side.

I agree that leadership should be more consistent, but they bend the rules when it's convenient for them. Perhaps the difference in Jentezen and the other minister is that Jentezen voluntarily surrendered his license rather than waiting for them to be revoked.

We all know that things are done by partiality in the COG. There are different standards depending on who you are and who you know. Having said that, I don’t spend any of my time worrying who does or doesn’t hold credentials. I pray that JF feels better and continues to do the work of the Kingdom! Acts Enthusiast
