Post Was Jesus good-looking (L)? Link
I was reading an article this morning in which the author said that if Hollywood was to be believed that Jesus was gorgeous, but that the Bible said otherwise.

Isaiah 53:2
For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.

I can usually tell if a man is exceptionally bad-looking. I kind of have to guess if a man is good-looking, but usually I have little to no perception of it. Based on asking other men, my guess is about 10 to 40% of men are like me and just can't tell.

Scientists haven't quite figured out the Shroud of Turin. As I recall, there are mixed results from scientific tests, but they aren't sure how the image got on the shroud. For the sake of argument, let us entertain the idea that it might be a burial shroud our Lord was wearing at the time of the resurrection, and that it was imprinted with an image.

Whatever the image is, scientists and artists were able allegedly to construct what the face would have looked like based on the shroud of Turin. I wonder if the image is that of a good-looking man.

These are reconstructions of what the face on the shroud of Turin looked like. Was the man good-looking.

What do you think? Is the man in these pictures good-looking?

Good post Link. The pictures in the second thread are (basically) what I have seen for years.
I do feel that for years we Christians have painted our Lord more white than Jewish. A man who was exposed to much sun and weathering from those early years that he walked many miles.
But interesting anyway!
Thanks. Cool

I showed the picture to some females who said the picture is average looking.

I figured if the shroud had a good-looking Jesus, it would be an argument against the shroud being legitimate.

We have a lot of male posters. I find that some percentage of men, like myself, have only the vaguest clue if a man is good-looking. I would have to consciously look for clues like facial symmetry and square jaws and take a guess at it. I can usually tell if a man is particularly odd-looking or bad-looking.

I told my girls of mine I was thinking of matching up each of these girls of mine with a husband for an old-fashioned, arranged marriage. I said I can't really tell if a man is good-looking, though. My teenage daughter didn't like that idea.
