Post Treats, a Christmas tradition Cojak
Growing up the one thing that I remember was the smell of citrus as the church Christmas treats were being put together for handing after church the Sunday before Christmas. I am not sure how wide spread the practice was, but I know in NC it was a TRADITION.
It was the only time most mill workers and kids saw and tasted tangerines and oranges. I remember as a PK the festive time as mostly some men volunteers and their kids would come to the church basement and form an assembly line to put the 'TREATS' together.
The last few years our church purchased the treats already made, but still had them. I guess this year that is out, and to me it is sad. Sad

BUT still I hope everyone has a MERRY Christmas. Smile

Post Chocolates... Aaron Scott
There were chocolates, walnuts and/or pecans, candy canes, and an orange that I recall.

We gave out something similar this past Sunday. The tradition lives on!

Post I remember my father and I putting them together. roughridercog
It was a Christmas tradition and a great memory.

But the hard candy often remained uneaten clear to Easter. Laughing
