I think the article is spot on. Telling someone who is battling depression to “suck it up buttercup” is about as cruel and heartless as it gets, and not at all Christ-like. There are a LOT of people in ministry who struggle with depression, which would make one think that Christians know best how to dispel compassion towards those who suffer from it. Unfortunately, that is far from being true.
