Post How much money has the COG received from Government STIMULUS? doyle
A friend in the Church of God of Prophecy told me the COGOP received $600,000 during the government stimulus program. I have not checked to verify that. Just wondered if the COG had received any stimulus funds.

If so, what are the plans for using it?

Since reading from pastors on ACTScelerate bout their churches applying for LOANS that they would not have to repay, I have wondered the same thing.

It seems to me we (our government) are treading on the separation of church ans state thing. Am I wrong in my thinking? Embarassed Confused Confused Confused

If the money was through the Paycheck Protection Program, so long as it is used for payroll, it is supposed to be forgiven. I have no direct knowledge of it, but it is possible that as a nonprofit, the Intl Offices received funds via the PPP, and it went to cover payroll. Our local church received funds from it, which covered six weeks of payroll for us. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Dave Ramsey advised against churches taking PPP money. He said it's a slippery slope to ever allow the government inside your kitchen. He could envision scenarios where churches received these forgivable loans would get inspections looking for things like transgender restrooms, gay friendly policies and if you don't have any the loans would not be forgiven.

I hope none of our churches runs into any of that.
