Post The Word According to Gen Z Carolyn Smith
Has anyone heard about this?

I thought this was a joke at first but apparently LifeWay (major Christian publisher) has teamed with a website called Sunday Cool to produce a devotional for the youth. It's called The Word According To Gen Z and here are some completely real biblical translations in this thing:

WE had young evangelists in the 50's who modified some, but nothing like this. Our COOL was not allowed to spread into the Word. It sounds STUPID to me, but then I guess I am Generation A.

Does Generation Z mean they are the last generation? Confused Confused Confused Shocked

I've never heard anyone speak Gen Z if that's their language. They must use it when I am not around.

Probably some guys in their '40's trying to make up cool-sounding slang.

That's exactly right. And insulting a generation, and driving them away from the Bible, in the process.

No one in Gen Z talks like this or wants this. This is an abomination. Gen Z, like every generation that has ever lived, has eternity in their hearts and those among Gen Z who will be God's people crave the true and sincere milk of the word.

Every copy of this trash should be burned, and whoever thought of it, wrote it, and published it should resign from ministry forever.

I thought this was in the blog, but apparently it wasn't:

"LifeWay has since pulled the book, due to backlash."

(I think Lifeway is an arm of the IPHC.)

Thankfully, this book has been pulled. Who would think this was a good idea?

LifeWay used to be the publishing company of the SBC. At least I think it was when Thom Rainer was heading up LifeWay.

I looked up Sunday Cool and there was a YouTube channel where the guy was talking about like that while starting at his phone, pretending to be a Gen Zer.

Calling God 'Cap G.' seems disrespectful to me. The translation also seems more frivilous than translating the Bible into Klingon. At least that might reach a few Trekkies.

It reminds me a bit of Da Jesus Book. The difference is, there are some real speakers of Hawaii Pidgin. It wasn't just a made up translation. Here are the opening verses in Genesis.

1Da time wen eryting had start, God wen make da sky an da world. 2Da world come so no mo notting inside, no mo shape notting. On top da wild ocean dat cova eryting, neva had light notting. Ony had God Spirit dea, moving aroun ova da watta.
Day Numba One
3Den God say, “I like light fo shine!” an da light start fo shine. 4God see how good da light. Den he put da light on one side, an da dark on da odda side. 5Da light time, he give um da name “Day time.” Da dark time, he give um da name “Nite time.” So, had da nite time an da day time, az day numba one.
