Post How much Bible reading... Aaron Scott
How much Bible reading do you do a week?

How much Bible reading do you suppose (or know) that most people do a week?

Just wondering.

I read a one year plan every year. So that translates to several chapters a day. Also I’m doing a plan called “the 260 challenge.” There are 260 chapters in the NT, and there are 260 weekdays in a year. So I read the OT through once and the NT through twice.

I’m up at 4 AM Mon-Thursday, so I read early.

I hope I am wrong but would guess that at least 50% of Christians do not read more than 10 minutes a week. Friendly Face

I have been involved with students at our local Christian school and encouraged them to develop regular morning devotionals. One young guy told me he was trying to read one chapter a day. He knew me well, was very smart so when I challenged him to do more be shared that he didn't know anybody (peers at the Christian school) who read the Bible. Friendly Face

Post I read with my morning coffee roughridercog
I don't have a set amount of chapters. Sometimes I hit a verse I have to meditate on for a while. For my version of choice, I prefer the NLT.

There have been times in my life when I’ve read more Scripture per day than I have been recently. I don’t think there’s a specific amount that we must read every day, but it is always a good thing to read the Bible, in the right spirit, of course. I know I could read more than I do. I do not read enough! But since I cannot see very well I have been listening each night to the Bible. I have listened to the book of Hebrews for 22 nights. Really enjoying it.

I plan to do this for 30-40 nights then listen to Romans a few nights then maybe Revelation.

I told the Lord I would read at least a chapter a day.

There have been a few days when I didn't read at least one chapter, but in 40+ years since then, I have tried to live up to that "at least."

Like many of you, sometimes I read more than the bare minimum, but I have found that it is a good habit to form.

Like everyone else, I’m sure I don’t read “enough”. I will say however that preaching once a week and teaching Sunday school every other week forces me to make time for study and prayer.

Not nearly enough. A real peril of pastoral or teaching ministry is studying in order that we might teach “them” instead of “us”. We need to be feeding ourselves consistently. I’ve often heard it said “if we are little WITH God, we will be little FOR God”. Acts Enthusiast

none because I am reading a christian book that has the verses in there. I try not to be legalistic with myself. So far, it has worked for me. Acts-perienced Poster

Carolyn no update on my eyes, but tonight will be 30 days of listening to the book of Hebrews.

I can now quote most of it. Just kidding. Wish I could.

I'm sorry to hear your eyes have not improved. I'm not sure I commented on your post back when you told us about it, but I did pray for you.

I'm glad you found a way to hear the Word. I just discovered an app that I can use to listen to scripture. Why have I not done this before?

Prayers for you today!
