Post Cancel GA and extend all appointments another term. roughridercog
No penalty on term limitations.

Think we might see it? It would mean a huge use of executive emergency powers from our headquarters. But you must admit, it is a viable possibility. Is there a precedent? I can't think of one in our history.

What do you think?

Please tell me the AB can be moved. That could be as terminal for us as a virus. Hey, DOC

I think this is what will likely happen, or some variation of it. It will also save significant amounts of money, which can be used elsewhere.

Post Carolyn Smith
The decision for ABs is usually made well in advance of the GA, as I understand it. No reason that couldn't move forward since it's not dependent on votes. Doesn't the Executive Council make these decisions?

For arguements sake let's say there will be no AB shuffle. Just leave them where they are unless they are requesting to stop being an AB.

Post I suggested... Aaron Scott
I suggested that we add to our Minutes a way to address emergency situations, and that we do this by perhaps allowing a supermajority of the Executive level to postpone the General Assembly by three months (and it can be renewed everything three months for up to a year), and that in such cases, term limitations would not count against those who would otherwise be make ineligible.

I think you're right, Roughrider--this is something we need.

Aaron is making a great point, but it is our understanding that no one can change the minutes without an actual GA. That is part of the checks and balances of our centralized government. It is virtually impossible to foresee general guidelines for a natural disaster or Act of God with dimensions and perimeter we have no way of knowing beforehand.

As another poster earlier stated the 3 possible scenarios, this calls for a special provision that we simply do not have at this time. I wish I could somehow find that post and discuss it more. To respond to Roughrider’s question our first 4 overseers had terms of at least 5 years. AJT himself ruled through a 2-year pandemic.

1 Ambrose Jessup Tomlinson 1903-1923
2 Flavius Josephus Lee 1923-1928
3 S.W Lattimer 1928-1935
4 J.Herbert Walker 1935-1940

This will probably be clarified pretty soon.
Should next assembly be in 2021 or 2022?
The floor is yours on this one…

It might throw thr rhythm out of kilter. It might just be wiser to extend everything 2 years. That will give the four year G A proponents an idea of what it would be like.

[general overseers] shall be elected for a four-year term, and he shall be eligible to serve no more than eight consecutive years in this office...
