Get a telescope. Hide out in a field across from the church wearing cammo, so no one can see you. See if you can line up the telescope right to look at that board that shows last week's attendance and offering. But if they haven't changed the board since 1975, you will be in trouble.

If it’s a CoG, in many states, the state office website will have the latest info on CoG churches in the state. Unfortunately, many state offices have stopped publishing this info. I’m really not sure why. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

This is for research on behalf of a Congressional candidate.

Find some people who go there. Knock on their door and ask them some survey questions. One can be what church they go to. Another can be about how many people attend.

Get a helicopter and fly above the church building. Count all the people who go in and go out. If you can't tell one person from another and get confused, count how many people get out of a motorvehicle to get an average number, then count cars and do the math to get an estimate.

Or get access to a military sattelite and do this from a home computer instead of from a helicopter.

RS YOu ask a hard question. At one time a call or state paper for the organization would have told you, but of course you knew that. But maybe a FB message to some one who attends would get you the info.

Even COG state offices are pretty far behind in listing when they do. Smile

Why is this unfortunate? Why would we want to publish a local church’s statistics for people who aren’t a part of that church? That has always been strange and perplexing to me.

In the mission state where I pastor, I always was interested in how our churches were doing. We are all bivo pastors out here, so it definitely wasn’t out of some twisted sense of pride or envy that I was interested. I sincerely liked knowing. Now I have no idea how any of our churches is doing. We’ve had some close in recent years, and had no idea they were struggling. If we’re all one united Church, not just a loose fellowship of churches, I think we should have the ability to know how our fellow churches are doing. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Post Do you have ninja skills? Aaron Scott
Or can you do a combat crawl.

OR can you do a good impression of Tim Hill's voice over the phone?

Can you hack their ministry reporting password?

Or, if you get a State News, take the number shown, divide by 2, multiple by 1.8, square it, add four, then deduct the number you started with.

EASY!!!

RS, since you have a graduate degree, I know I don't have to tell you this --

but no matter which idea here you choose, make sure you do it enough times to be able to average the noise out of your data set. Laughing
