I believe it is an idea whose time has come. Pay a registration fee and vote and view from your computer.
But is the idea terrifying to our leadership?

Your thoughts?

Yes. 2/3 of our membership is in Indonesia. Most of those churches were amalgamated and contribute very little financially to the general church. However, if we allowed online voting, we would have an Indonesian General Overseer, Executive Committee, Council, Youth Director, an so on. So, yes, they are scared of it.

To be fair, if we made that available to some we'd have to make it available to all. That would be a logistical nightmare in some areas where tech infrastructure is sorely lacking.

Post Have you considered ... Mat
Have you considered authorized state/regional/national locations were Bishops could gather to vote via internet? This keeps a certain among of accountability combined with more accessibility. It would make it hard to sit in you home wearing your PJs, drinking your coffee, with one eye on the news and the other on the assembly, but it would lessen the burden of being on site for the assembly.

Post General Assembly or General Council mytwocents
Do you support this for the General Assembly or the General Council? If you support it for the General Assembly then any registered member could vote during the assembly portion, online.

In either case, I could see 'voter validation' as being a real nightmare.

For discussions sake, let's say General Council and elections. (Bunch of guys leave after those anyway)
