Absolutely no criticism intended in posting this article. Helping people assimilate and feel appreciated is a constant for Pastors. Just came across this article and thought it may be of help to someone.

My opinion…. This is the ME and ME TOO generation. This generation goes thru the mill doing what is expected, maybe recognized, maybe not, but push until they 'ME' is the boss. He or she still hold to the ME complex and forget the road faced by those below them. Many made it by sheer determination with no recognition and DO NOT see a reason to go to the trouble to 'Show Notice.'

SOME (preachers included) still want to be the center of the universe, they still want recognition even from the lowly janitor rather than vice versa.

You have heard and seen the old adage (especially government workers and family members) "He (she) has been promoted to their highest level of incompetence." Therefore see no need to recognize anyone other than themselves.

Simple recognition (just my observation). We attended the Inverness , FL COG for awhile in our travels. I cannot remember a service that Pastor Larry Powers did not compliment some member(s) or attendee for something done that month or week from the pulpit. (as a preamble or during the sermon, he was good at relating a member to a Bible character) At times it was just calling the name. He was a beloved pastor and the church was dynamic.

Of course recognition is important, I am not sure in my mind if it relates to the church as much as business, but maybe. Embarassed
