Man, I wish my biggest problem was whether folks were reading their Bibles on their cell phone.

I should have moved to Mayberry (or is it Sand Mountain) 50 years ago.

I know Beulah is a parody, but this type of thinking is around. I had one member of the first church I pastored get upset with me because I read my text from the Bible App.

I just opened up some mail from Voice of the Martyrs. This particular issue was all about getting the Bible into countries where it is illegal. It specifies that one of the formats smuggled into North Korea is digital. So, how does Beulah stand in situations as stark as that? Are Bible apps and other digital formats fine in areas of the world where you can’t get a print edition?

OK. So how about answering my question. If digital copies of the Bible are the only way to smuggle God’s Word into places like North Korea, is that acceptable to you?

People like Beulah’s parody are so myopic they never think of the broader implications of their convictions. Take for instance, the KJVO crowd- They never once stop to consider the fate of those who lived prior to 1611 or our dear brothers and sisters across the world that don’t speak or read English. Very true, Da Sheik. I have talked with people of this persuasion, and pastored one for sure. They truly can’t see the ramifications of their supposed beliefs. Much in the way that die-hard WOF adherents can’t see that their doctrine doesn’t carry much weight in places other than the US and other western nations that have some affluence.

Well, as a dear old saint once remarked “if the KJV was good enough for Paul and Silas it is good enough for me”.

I wonder, do people really think that way?

Just wondering why we can't be thankful for the Word of God so readily available in digital form. Yeah, I know Beaulah is a parody (that claims not to be a parody lol) but I also have heard preachers denigrate those using there phones to read the scripture.

It seems a great blessing that since folks are seemingly addicted to their phones and carry them wherever they go and FEW carry their leather bound Bible around all the time... seems it's a good thing to be reminded the word of God is close by in digital form and in multiple versions... even the 1611 (very difficult to read)King James version

Post Okay, here is my honest opinion roughridercog
Print as we know it is dying. Many schools and institutions have etexts rather than bulky textbooks. We get our magazines and newspaper on a screen rather than paper.
No wonder the Bible has gone this way, also.
My real opinion? I'm in favor of getting people to read the Word in any format. Now me personally? I'm a traditionalist/modern guy. I like holding a real printed version of the Bible in my handS. I can trace my growth as a Christian from my old KJV Thompson given to me by my father to my present NLT. I can read old notes, comments, and marks and use them as keystone places in my life. Each time a Bible becomes extremely cluttered with notes, tear stains, and margin outlines, I take great joy in going to the bookstore and selecting a new one.

Oddly enough, as the years have gone by, the print has gotten bigger. Laughing

I also enjoy using a print bible, although I do my daily reading in my phone. The Bible App has plans, which I am using. Last year I read the scriptures in a print edition.
