Thanks for posting this Ron. From a macro perspective I believe this is spot on. From a micro perspective, the results are different. Most COG pastors I know seem to be a discontented bunch. Definitely more than a quarter of them are bivocational with funding a constant worry. Further, I don’t think many of our ministers have had adequate education to reflect the numbers in the study.
But like the old adage goes : “if you can do anything else and be happy then do it !â€
Pastoring is not for the weak, but i can say with all sincerity I can’t imagine a more fulfilling life for me. |

That is the testimony most members need to hear. I found my short pastorate life very rewarding. I have read of 'members from hell' on this forum. I was blessed and never faced one of those. My dad, in over 50 years was the GOOD pastor, never had a 'bad' word that I heard about one of his members.
Anyway, thanks for that one line my friend. Life and GOD is good. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

I've never understood the "sink or swim" mentality that COG pastors must operate under. The constant worry about finances is a mental, spiritual, and physical drain that only serves to impede the work of God. Seems to me that an organization as large as the COG should be able to come up with an efficient method in which to ease the burden of these men and women so they could focus on ministry. _________________ “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized.
