Post Bishop cogcia
Have you ever had a bishop that wanted to do what was right, but you think he is just over his head. Has the right heart but not the leadership ability to be successful. Do you speak up or just hope the EC will take notice? Do you believe if you speak up your ministry will be crushed? Is 4 year appointments devastating if leadership is inept.

I don't think a good man can be devastating, but I am sure it is possible. You do point out something that has been a problem. Just because a man is a great pastor doesn't mean he is an administrator. Just because a man has "PAID HIS DUES" does not mean he is capable.

That works in business, politics and the religious world. And of course it has happened in the COG. The Western States are usually the ones that are used as a 'proving' ground.

This comes from some observation of church and business, definitely not a spiritual insight. Builders get in over their heads at times and struggle when they attempt to build 'out of their league'. Example: I built good solid residential homes, small churches and businesses, but I know a Mall is out of my league.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't recommend rocking the boat in the COG.

Don't the good Book say they went out from us cause they was not of us?

And this statement, true as it is, is an indictment against the COG for sinking into the mire of politicism and strong arm tactics in order to exert control over all who dare voice an honest opinion that may differ from the company line.

In my opinion, the EC sees what it wants to see and will not permit facts to get in the way. In addition, they would allow someone to struggle for years, all while knowing they are not a good fit for the position rather than admit that a mistake was made. After all, every one of their appointments has been prayed over mightily, don’t you know?

They were of us until they couldn’t take the lies and abuse any longer. I’m hoping that was tongue and cheek, but our cheeks are hurting.

It is the job to the AB to do what they believe is best for the denomination, regardless of the effect on a pastor or local church. They are doing their job. Their job is to protect the system. As I heard an EC member tell an AB years ago it is your job to take care of the system that is taking care of you. The political system of the church is just that a political system. Some in the system believes it is about people, others believe it is about the system. Some
Have a good heart but has poor skills, others have a self serving heart, but I’m please to say some has been able to be in the system and keep the right heart.

Indeed!

It also says:

Indeed it does, an it also speaks of them what "despise government."

But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities (2 Peter, Chapter 2, Verse 10 KJV).

Not a question of despising government.

But despising corruption and abuse.

So people leaving the COG are shaking the dust off their feet as they leave?

This thread has hit rock bottom at this point.

Waiting on the next guy to say - "well your Mama is so fat...."

To your question, "No." (Or, "perhaps"...I really don't know).

The point of my proof-text response is it has no more bearing on the matter at hand than the previous verse quoted. I was actually going to respond with, "And there is a sale on Jif peanut butter at Walmart this week!"
To which someone would reply, "What does that have to do with anything?"
My response: "exactly."

But instead I opted to play the "Proof-Text Anything Game!" Smile
Clearly a bad judgment call! Smile

Here is what is clear: I just wanted to start some "Your mama" comebacks, which might not have anything to do with this thread.

Regarding the "shale the dust off" scripture...

Yo mama is so fat...she shakes the dust off everything with every step she takes!

(How as that for an adaptive "Yo mama" response?)
