I got the original set in 1997, loved it, an used it so many times.

The revised edition was released in 2012 with 60% of it brand new content. Couldn't afford it when it was first released ($450-500 retail price), an I never seen it on sale over about $30-40 dollars off. The ole timer just about shouted an run the aisle when I found it on sale for the excellent price of $194. Yep, 57% discount.

I am a lover of books in general and of commentaries in particular. The Expositor’s sounds interesting. What reasons would you give for a pastor to buy this particular set? What are its strong points? What would you say is the overall theological orientation of the commentaries? And, are they especially geared to help with sermon preparation? [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Yes I saw that info at the Logos website.

I’m interested to hear your thoughts on the commentary set.

I got the original set back in 1997, Wyatt, an have used it extensively. IMHO, it is an excellent tool for pastors and anyone who loves in depth study. The set offers a good blend of scholarship dealing with linguistic, historical, contextual and theological issues. I've used them often in sermon prep, although they are not written primarily with a homiletical slant.
