Jags to upset the Pats? |
Resident Skeptic |
I have not watched football to amount to anything in 10 years. Sometimes I pay attention to the playoffs. The Jags back-to-back playoff wins against the Bills and Steelers peaked my interest. This reminds me of the 1996-97 playoffs. In January 1997 the Jags lost in New England 20-6 in the AFC Championship. History repeats itself. Brady is hurt. The Pats defense is not great. The Jags have the number 1 defense. I smell an upset. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

So far, the Pats are pathetic. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

I hear ya. I was a rabid NFL fan for years, but I lost interest a couple of years ago. I didn't watch any this season or last season. I don't even think I watched the Super Bowl last year.
I think it was the over-commercialization/over-availability that got to me. That combined with a stinker of a season for the Ravens (which could describe the last two years as well) turned me off as a fan. I still love the game of football -- I love watching HS kids play, although I'd never let my kid play, and I enjoy college ball. I respect the incredible talent and skill of NFL players. Just can't handle the league anymore. |

Maybe it was because the COG discouraged any sports activity when I was a teen. Maye I am just overly conscience of it, but in the USA sports over shadows academics. As a very senior adult it amazes me the level sports plays in HS & college. I watched my grands play in HS they were stars, but I always reminded them the education is first. & of College scholarships and NFL selection was small. They got their education and a couple were top in their class in college.
I seldom follow or watch now, unless we have sons visiting. I refuse to watch a super bowl! It isn't about the game. Just $$$.
