Quote: | I will give one example and that is interim pastors! In some states the COG State Office personnel have stepped in to fill in as interim pastor. And, sometimes retired pastors have filled in as Interim pastors. This creates an atmosphere of transition over a period of time and potentially builds trust with the AB and the local church. So, my thought is that an interim pastor may be needed for a church like Metro |
Been there, done that. When the last pastor left, Culpepper was state AB over Alabama and did interim for a full year. That time of limbo was very tough on the church, but proved to be financially wise. RC was drawing a salary as AB and allowed the church to get back on track with no staff or salaries to pay.
Church is in a much better situation this go around (staff/finances). Either way, the old adage of being quick to fire and slow to hire seems to hold credence here. I don't think it will take a year to hire someone, nor do I think it is necessary. _________________ That haircut of yorn may be citified, but your heart was shaped in a bowl.....................Briscoe Darling |

It seems that the AB has found a suitable pastor from Alabama. |

Nobody, Culpepper was there Sunday. He will be there for the next few weeks getting a "feel" for what the church wants.
This is impossible. There is no way to please everybody, but it seems as though Metro is in a vicious cycle. At one time Metro was the shining beacon on the hill for the COG in Alabama. That is not the case anymore. Due to politics and the need to do everything within the "COG system". Metro will be nothing more than a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Former pastor is a prime example of the situation the church is in. Someone on here said it best, Metro is no longer a "big" church, but still thinks and acts like they are. _________________ That haircut of yorn may be citified, but your heart was shaped in a bowl.....................Briscoe Darling |

New Pastor |

How many great men have been told NO because they do not fit into the
political plan. Great men that the membership of Metro will never get to interview because THOSE PEOPLE with an AGENDA are controlling every move that is made... and call it God's Will. |

Culpepper will not be campaigning for the GA because there are no elections for the EC in 2018. Mercy me! _________________ We always reap what we sow. Remember...the quality of your future is decided by the choices you make today. |

The old guard at Metro would love nothing more than for Raymond to come back and they could relive their "glory days" of old. Everyone else knows this will not happen, including Culpepper (he said as much to the search committee). This is a young mans job and needs someone that can do all that is needed to minister to the congregation this day and age. _________________ That haircut of yorn may be citified, but your heart was shaped in a bowl.....................Briscoe Darling |

It looks like the overseer of Alabama has his hands full. According to a friend, the pastor of a large church in South Alabama resigned abruptly on Sunday morning. |

Where? Not stating where causes us to guess and possibly guess wrong. There are a lot of large churches in South Alabama. |
