All things are lawful for me... |
bradfreeman |
What do you think these "all things" are?
Do you draw a circle around these "all things", where it isn't "all things"?
If so, why?
1 Cor 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
1 Cor 10:23 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify.
1 Tim 4:4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; 5 for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.
1 Tim 6:17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
Titus 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

In the example of the Corinthians - their "I have the right to do anything" mantra was countered by Paul. The immediate context was idolatry and sexual immorality. In those instances, clearly it was not "lawful" for them to participate in such activity. However, in matters of food & drink, they were cautioned to exercise their liberty with the benefit of others in mind. |

Brad my friend, Da Sheik has very good points here! That is one of 'em skeery statements in Scripture, "All things are lawful!" _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!
