Serving as an AB is not an easy job but the pay is really good. It should be.

Possibly the EC could develop a "Standard of Accomplishment" expected of AB's. Then, publish a list of AB's that reached that standard.

This would be a positive way of rewarding AB's who do a good job, without going negative about those who do not.

whachathink?

Are we talking about a merit evaluation for bonus consideration or just a method to determine the ones who actually do their job with the least amount of partiality?

Well, it could be very biased. The feathers in the cap would be to the AB who had more churches planted and most members increased. Do they ever tell the clerks and pastors to clean up the membership books? We pastored one church with 165 members on the book and probably 50 in attendance. We told the clerk to take off a member each month so as to balance the books and not cause suspicion to the effect of cleaning the membership. One AB told a new incoming pastor to a church when he told them they were contacting as many members as they could possibly reach and cleaning the books. The AB said, well it can affect your salary as salary was based on membership. The new pastor said, well I don't get a full salary anyway, so he cleaned up his books. I always wondered if AB's record reflects the number of churches that are disbanneded or closed and that would not necessarily be his fault at all. Most AB's are super great. We have never had a problem with any but we mind our own business and pastor the church as best as we can. Friendly Face
