You are obsessed with the COG...something you are not even a part of.
Perhaps psychological help is called for.
Let it go. Move on. Looking back isn't healthy.

Thanks for the concern. Just asking:
Practical Commitments
Addiction and Enslavement
"Therefore, a Christian must totally abstain from all alcoholic beverages..."
Mat 11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
Are you going to bring Jesus up on charges? _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

I will cross that bridge whenever he applies for membership at the local COG. Let me know whenever that happens. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

To be fair, this is not solely a COG thing, its an American cultural thing. The COG does not even enforce or even discuss it much in the European churches. The next generation is taking a more global-church and Biblical view on it and things are changing. I for one hope that the pendulum does not swing to the other ditch as is the norm for our species, but somehow lands in the middle of the road as it should be. |

Well, I'm surprised that Jesus isn't in the COG.
Does He want in? Do you want Him in?

I guess you can't read.
He hasn't applied for membership yet.
He just shows up.
You're the one trying to make him a deacon.
The COG wants him to be Lord and Savior. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

And NO BACON! And, depending on whether he was following Jewish tradition, no cheese with the beef or else no beef with the cheese.
Ha! Maybe he could have had a Morningstar patty with cheese. (That had his name on it.) |

If he is not COG, why is he allowed to come on Actscelerate and teach opposing views?
Why not send him packing?
I somewhat remember a post getting deleted a few years ago, because it was opposing what the COG taught about tithing? |

Are you referring to me or Jesus?
Especially since He taught that nothing going into a man defiles him (this being opposed to the COG's position that a Christian "must totally abstain" from letting any alcohol go into them).

You.
You know perfectly well, what Jesus was meaning about what going in the man defiles. This is something gone over and over.
I don't have all the answers about alcohol, and Jesus drinking wine, and whether it contained alcohol. I don't understand it all. But I believe with all my heart, that we have missed something about this topic.
Some way, some how, whether culturally, or Spiritually, there is something we missed. With alcohol being responsible for so many human tragedies, it goes beyond comprehension that Christ either through example, or by Word, endorse something that HE perfectly well would be responsible for such human suffering. Millions upon millions of lives have been marred and destroyed by alcohol. And then a guy like you comes on here and promotes alcohol.
For just one moment, step back from what you believe Christ's stance was on consuming alcohol. Just understanding the cultural damage it has done, you would think a Minister as yourself, wouldn't come close to it. But still you come on here promoting it. It's as though this is your agenda. You really should be ashamed. But there again, you are Freeman. |

It's funny how alcohol causes all of these problems and not personal responsibility but when it comes to guns, it's different. |

what Brad would torment us with next if we all went out and bought a 6 pak and stuck it in the fridge. Or would his mission finally be accomplished so he could enter a place of rest

I reckon this has turned into the alcohol no alcohol threads. I think my friend Brad knew this also, I could be wrong. (but like most folk I am ALWAYS right) I notice usually on this Forum, when this subject comes up that EVERYONE who drinks an alcoholic beverage does it to get drunk.
Probably some of you more educated guys saw a lot of drining in college, drinking to get drunk. That also seemed to be true in the 'slop-chutes' and ports I frequented as a young kid too young to drink in the Corps. Later in the USN that was also true. BUT as an adult I have many friends and meet many folk traveling who drink, and I have never seen them drunk.
I am not condoning nor condemning, just saying there are probably millions of folk who have a beer or a glass of wine on occasion and are never 'drunk'.
As has been pointed out that in the COG in certain areas, NYC (foreign national churches) is one, and in some foreign countries, beer and wine are an accepted beverage. I have been told this by mission reps and State overseers in the North EAst.
I am convinced in my soul that our Lord did drink wine and testify and teach in that surrounding. It was a completely acceptable beverage of the time.
But I am absolutely positive Our Lord NEVER had no Bacon Cheeseburger! Just sayin'! _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!
