#alllivesmatter vs. #blacklivesmatter? |

Anyone take on the topic of what's going on around the nation? Have you addressed it from the pulpit? Has it affected your congregation? |

Our pastor scheduled a reconciliation conference at our church next week where black and white pastors will speak on the ministry of reconciliation of the races within the Azusa Street churches. Providentially, this conference was scheduled over a year ago! We're all very excited to see what the Spirit is going to say to the churches here in Dallas in a critical time such as this! |

Thats great JD , but I dont believe the problem lives within the church. these are decent people trying to do the right thing , black and white. |

It's interesting that on one hand, people say AllLivesMatter to refute BlackLivesMatter but proudly proclaim BlueLivesMatter. So, it's okay do distinguish Blue Lives and not Black Lives.
Just be consistent. |

I wonder if it HAS entered into the church... especially since Christians post on social media concerning their strong views. I wonder if fellow worshippers across the isle wonder, "I wonder what they think of me?" I believe it has impacted the church more than we think. |

While I agree with you that most are trying to do the right thing, I respectfully disagree that the problem doesn't live within the church. The whites within the church (including myself), have been somewhat dismissive of the issue, largely because of the radical elements we perceive in the BLM movement. But there are many black church leaders that have been involved in BLM and many others who are expressing concern with perceived injustice who are not within that particular group (thankfully, since I agree its been hijacked). Today President George W. Bush said something that struck a chord with me. "Too often, we judge other groups by their worst examples, while we judge ourselves only by our best intentions"...
I think we would all agree that whether or not any of the "problem" exists within the church, the ANSWER absolutely is within the church and His name is Jesus. I look forward to the conference and I hope and expect to leave it with more hope than I've had in weeks. |
