Phil 3:2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; 3 for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh, 4 although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless. 7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
The dogs referred to by Paul here were the "false circumcision", those who relied on a natural circumcision and not the "true circumcision" of the heart. The are from the same camp as the "false brethren" who were sent to spy out Paul's liberty in Galatians 2 and pressured Peter back into Jewish religious observances.
These are the dogs that put their confidence toward God in the flesh - being born in the right nation, the right tribe, being a student of the Law, being "on fire" with zeal for their beliefs and keeping the Law blamelessly.
These are the dogs relying on the rubbish of self-righteousness as the basis for their confidence.
These are the dogs that cause those who stand in freedom to share in the fellowship of Christ's sufferings (persecution, not arthritis) as He predicted. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

These? Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! |

I didn't see any reference to dogs in Isaiah 5. What's your basis for connecting this scripture to dogs? _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!
