No, we don't have to do that. I will not vote for a man who is unfit for the presidency in order to keep a woman who is unfit for the presidency from winning the office.

I had no problem voting for McCain and Romney, because while I disagreed with them quite strongly at times, they were both fit for the office. This year, we are being given a choice between two people who are wholly unfit for the office and unless the Lord directs me otherwise (and I will be listening between now and election day), I will not vote for either of them.

Latest National GOP poll

2016 Republican Presidential Nomination Rasmussen Reports Trump 43, Cruz 28, Kasich 21 Trump +15

Looks like Kasich is going to do the work for the party bosses and prevent Cruz AND Trump from a majority.

Trump will NOT be the nominee (and that may not go well for whoever IS)

And regardless of who is nominated, ultimately the people don't choose the president, the electors do. Most states have laws binding their electors to the popular vote, but those laws could easily be changed between now and election day.

This process would unfold exactly as the Constitution prescribes it, since the Founders were concerned that the popular majority might some day attempt to elect a lunatic to the office. They set up the Republic so the people could choose their state legislatures, and their state legislatures could choose the president. These legislatures could award the electoral college votes belonging to their state to most anyone they please, limited only by their own state's laws, which they could change.

I don't necessarily support this outcome, but I would experience near unlimited mirth watching folks like Resident Skeptic explode in the face of a proper, fully Constitutional display of power reserved to the states.

I don't MUST do anything but pay taxes. As far as who I vote for, I MUST vote my conscience. That doesn't include Trump, Sanders or Clinton. Acts-pert Poster

we MUST nominate someone who is NOT evil.

Then we can discuss who we SHOULD vote for.

That wasn't very nice. She's gotten a little heavier as she's aged, but I wouldn't call her fat.

Ha, ha! I had originally written "or as Trump would say, the pig, the malcontent, the loser," but I thought better of it. Cool

Just in case there was a misunderstanding, I'm using an idiom and not referring to a particular person, and my point is that Trump is not yet the nominee. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Now you're calling Donald Trump an idiot?? And you even spelled it wrong!
Good grief! Is there no end to your disrespect?

Cojak, I think Tom is reading my mind. I started to write "I was referring to the idiom and not a particular person," but I thought to myself that wouldn't do because someone might contrast 'the idiom' with 'a person.' So I changed it, but, alas, to no avail.
Shocked
