If you don't know the Bible well, it says "Two (II) Corinthians" It does not say 2nd Cor. (in my Bible anyway!)

From the head lines , You would have thought he quoted, "Believe on the Name of Jesus and you might be financially well off"!!!!

I love the press and their headlines....
Very Happy

I've heard African-American preachers say it that way many times over the years; 3 John 2 is, simply, "Three John Two." [Insert Acts Pun Here]

I've heard preachers from Scotland say 1 Kings and 2 Corinthians instead of first or second. Radio preacher Alistair Begg says it all the time. Acts-pert Poster

But.....if you are around church, you know it's Second Corinthians. Remember, he couldn't name a favorite verse. If Obama had done this........ Acts-pert Poster

No, I'm just saying he's not the only one I've ever heard say it that way. Maybe he picked up some Ebonics from living in New York.

When I lived in Indonesia, I thought for a while that there was a trend away from saying 2nd Corinthians, Thessalonians, etc. toward saying 'Two Corinthians'.

At the church I went to, people with American/Canadian accents said that. I think what it was is that the British say 'Two Corinthians' and one of the preachers was English, and it became the norm in that church. One of the Americans who said it was also a Hong Kong citizen. He sounded American, but maybe they say 'Two Corinthians' in British-influence Hong Kong. (I don't know. I'll have to remember to ask the pastor or other Hong Kong people at the church I go to.)

I have heard two instead of second from other preachers and they were not black. I think Mark Rutland was one. Golf Cart Mafia Consigliere

WEll I will say this, Mr Carter sure knew it was called 2nd Corinthians and I think I am the only one who liked him well enough to vote for him 'once'.

The rest of you guys 'knowed' he wus not going to be a good president.

Glad to hear Trump is doing his studying for himself.

He could have got a slick speechwriter to give him the nuances of pronunciation of Biblical texts - but he didn't....that speaks to the authenticity of Trump.

Thanks for sharing this great story.

Trump is obviously unfamiliar with the scriptures. He was simply parroting something an advisor wrote for him. Having said that , outside of the States it is not uncommon to hear "two" Corinthians, "two" Peter/John etc. Acts Enthusiast
