Post Does God use the Jewish calendar? bonnie knox
Our speaker Sunday morning mentioned that God uses the Jewish calendar and this is the year of jubilee.
Shaking my head.

Cojak, a naked woman is not a shock to God, but I do like the idea of the farm pictures. If I'm not mistaken, God was the first person to plant a garden.
And Christmas! Good thought, there. Of course, we had a fellow in Sunday school this past Sunday who was kinda trying to draw a parallel between the Israelites killing everything in Jericho to folks shunning all pagan practices (the implication being that some of our holidays have pagan origins). I think he had gone to meddling, myself.

Post Probably not the way he inferred, but ... Poimen
In a manner of speaking, yes. The Jewish calendar was given by God and is full of prophetic insights and divine "timelines" (if you will) for us to learn from.

In the same way God uses a prayer shawl.

EVERY SINGLE incident, model, event, pattern, etc., in the Old Testament was given to us as a example.

Do the Jews use God's calendar?

Certain aspects of the calendar were revealed by God in the Bible.

Link, do you think you're giving me a revelatory word there, or do you think Sister Bonnie might already have an inkling about that?

The question as it relates to what the speaker said at my church Sunday is whether we can expect God to work in a special way because this happens to be (or happened to be) the year of Shemitah.

Post The Jewish Calendar... Mark Ledbetter
is based upon the Biblical time cycles established by God, including:

The weekly, monthly, annual, Sabbatical Year, Jubilee cycles, and all are basically lunar.

A problem with a strict Biblical calendar is that months alternate between 29 and 30 days, and result in a year of 354 days, a few days short of the solar calendar of 365 days. So, periodic adjustments add a leap month of 30 days to realign the Jewish timetable.

Obviously there are some problems with this, especially since the rabbis coming up with the system uses a millennium framework with a 6000 year pattern, with anticipation of a 7th millennium, or Sabbatical millennium which has eschatological significance for observant Jews.

We might dismiss this framework if it wasn't for the fact it played a role in both 2 Peter and Revelation.

"As for the times and the seasons" Paul refers to in 1 Thessalonians 5, Paul implies the Feasts of YHWH (Leviticus 23 et al and NOT Jewish Feast Days), do have significant eschatological inferences and influences, e.g. Jesus' death and resurrection taking place during the Passover, including First Fruits - See 1 Cor 5 and 15).

As alluded in another post, the "88 Reasons" was based upon the Feasts but used a Gregorian Calendar. I believe the Feasts are important but I don't believe the Gregorian Calendar has any impact on fulfillment. It just adds further confusion in the discussion.

There's more, but there you go...
