Post stirring up the congregation bonnie knox
Good? Bad? Depends?
"Christ is ____, _____, ______, and our SOON COMING KING!!"
Does that get them stirred up? Is that in a different category than, say,
"God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!"

(Just bringing it here from the "Pope" thread.)

Eddie, I think you've been too long away from your COG roots. You need to get a little excited from time to time. Very Happy [Insert Acts Pun Here]

The congregation should be docile and mopey at all times. At no time should they experience any form of joy, excitement, or energy concerning their state as blood-bought, born again believers*, whether spontaneous or planned. It has no place in our churches today and I am glad there are folks who are willing to take a stand against these stirrings-up.

* Oops!!!

That's not true at all! I actually attend more COG events than anything else. I hit up camp meetings, prayer conferences, special events, the assembly, etc. I bet I go to more than you!

You're missing the point. The congregation should be joyful because they have been bought by the blood of Jesus, not a slogan. There is a problem if you have to stir it up.

Separate the theatrics, cliche's, and COG'isms from some COG preachers and you're left with very little actual content. But who cares as long as everyone leaves excited, right? Acts Enthusiast

But smoke, dark lights, and contemporary music are ok to stir folks up - make em feel comfortable like at a night club.

But slogans, not ok?

I read ya.

Just a great song about a traveling preacher. Thought it was appropriate.

Post Da Shiek...we must not travel in the same circles... Aaron Scott
I hear some of the richest truth from Church of God preachers.

If they have some intensity about them, some emotion about them, some joy about them, well, they have good reason to have it! We are born-again, filled with the Holy Ghost, and part of a wonderful organization (both the one on earth and the one in the supernatural).

If you don't hear much content past that, wow, I feel sorry for you, bro.
