Post You city folks have no idea JLarry
I sat on my porch this afternoon watching three peanut pickers pick peanuts across the road from my house. There was another tractor pulling a trailer from the pickers to the truck. They dump the peanuts onto the hauler and the hauler takes them to the truck.

Another guy was bailing the hay behind the pickers.

A total of 5 tractors in the field, three peanut pickers and a hay baler. I suppose there were over one million dollars of equipment on the field

I grew up on a peanut picker but one very different than they have now. We had a couple small tractor compared to what they have now and hauled our peanuts on a ton and a half truck not a semi trailer. They picked more peanuts today than we could have picked in a week and I don't think they started until after lunch.

I love the farm. I love harvest time.

Behind my house is a large field of cotton, they will be picking cotton soon.

My daddy would be amazed. He was a peanut farmer in North Georgia. He farmed with mules and wagons.

I enjoyed reading this post, I could smell the earth. I like green peanuts raw, still soft, I like em dried, salty, boiled and dad's favorite way parched.

Thanks for a welcoming feel-good read... Smile

Oh, I was working in DC when the farmers came up to protest something. I went down to the Mall to see some 8n's, Fergusons and Internationals. I was flabbergasted at those monsters. A/c TV etc. Yep I bed you saw a million dollars in that field...

Bonnie is right sorta starts a craving. Smile

Many of the tractors have lazer steering. The farmers set the computer and sit back and relax the tractor plows a perfectly straight row. I would probably go to sleep.

Post Larry.... Aaron Scott
have you ever heard of peanuts being called "pinders"? An old fellow in our church told me that that was what they used to call them in South Georgia. Hon. Dr. in Acts-celeratology
